Claim TracFone Prepaid Phone Refund Settlement on PrepaidPhoneRefund.com as TracFone has settled a class-action lawsuit over data throttling charges.
Mobile data plans providers use misleading advertising term, “Unlimited” to attract customers and then cheat them. TracFone Wireless is one such company who cheated its customers using this alluring term. Now, the company has agreed to pay $40 million to end a nationwide class action lawsuit over data throttling charges. All the class members of the TracFone Prepaid Phone Refund Settlement are required to submit a Claim Form to get benefits from the settlement.
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) filed a class action lawsuit against TracFone who owns brands like Straight Talk, Net10, Simple Mobile and Telcel America. FTC claimed that TracFone offered unlimited data service for $45 per month under its various brands but then it cut off data service after 4 to 5GB usage or reduce data transfer speed after 1GB to 3GB usage during a 30-day period.
Straight Talk, Net10, Simple Mobile, or Telcel America customers who purchased unlimited data service plan in the United States during the time period of July 24, 2009 to December 31, 2014 and had their data usage suspended or throttled are the class members of the TracFone Prepaid Phone Refund Settlement. Class members must file a claim as soon as possible as time period to file a claim is limited.
There are two ways to file a claim: online and mail. If you have more than one phone number with unlimited data, then file a separate Claim Form for each number.
Online: Go to PrepaidPhoneRefund.com and follow the instructions to submit a Claim Form.
Mail: Visit PrepaidPhoneRefund.com and download a Claim Form. Complete and mail the Claim Form to the Settlement Administrator to Prepaid Phone Refund, Settlement Administrator, P.O. Box 2011, Chanhassen MN 55317-2011.
Class members who submit a valid Claim Form will get reimbursement from the settlement. The amount you get depends on 3 things: the number of eligible claims, when you were a customer and how your service was affected.
