The process of receiving payment from the e-class action settlement is based on retailers from where you have purchased qualifying e-books:

Purchase e-books from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, or Apple: No need to file any claim to get payment if email notice is sent by retailer or from the Settlement Claims Administrator. You will get payment or credit directly in to your account when the court approves settlement.

Purchase e-books from Sony: If you purchased e-books Sony retailers and get notice from the Settlement, then you will also obtain check automatically in to your account.

Purchase e-books from Google: Google customers must file claim form online till 21st October, 2013 if they did not file claim form in the previous settlements. For filling claim form, you have to provide your name, mailing and email address and settlement ID number that is written in the notice that you have received by Google.

Purchase e-books from any other retailer, not included in above: if you filed claim form of earlier settlement, then you don’t require filing claim form again for the Macmillan and Penguin Settlements. If you did not file claim previously, then you must file online claim form including purchase detail to receive a check.

When and how to file a claim?

Eligible Customers can file claim form either online or offline. For filing a claim online, visit www.eBooksAGSettlements.com and open the link of file a claim from left side menu. You must enter settlement ID number, date of purchase, purchase price, the ISBN (International Standard Book Number) number, and publisher detail for each e-book purchased during submitting claim form online.

  • Must purchased those e-book that was published by Hachette, HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, Penguin,or Macmillan
  • Made purchase from April 1, 2010 through May 21, 2012
  • You must resident of a state other than Minnesota, the District of Columbia, or one of the five U.S. Territories and Commonwealths at the time of purchase
