Wacoal $1.3M iPants Class Action Settlement over false advertising

All the ladies who purchased Wacoal's iPant to fight cellulite at any time after January 2011 can apply for a refund at FTC.gov/Wacoal under the proposed class action settlement.

FTC Wacoal settlement

A $1.3 million settlement has been reached in a class-action lawsuit filed against Wacoal for making misleading claims about its iPant products. The company had claimed that wearing iPants would substantially reduce the appearance of cellulite and make hips & thighs slimmer. However, according to the FTC, there’s no scientific support for these claims. So, the federal agency has ordered the company to pay an amount of $1.3 million in refunds to customers who purchased the iPant products. In addition to this, Wacoal is also banned from making any such claims in future that a piece of clothing can contribute to weight loss and reduce the body size.

Products included in the Settlement are:
  • Cupless Camisole (Style No. 802171)
  • Legging (Style No. 804171)
  • Mid-Thigh Shaper (Style No. 804271)
  • Hi-Waist Long Leg Shaper (Style No. 805171)
  • Brief (Style No. 808171)
  • Long Leg Shaper (Style No. 809171)
All those who have purchased the above mentioned products after January 2011, are eligible Class Members and are entitled for benefits from this class action settlement. However, you must file your claim before the deadline (19 May 2015) in order to receive a refund of your purchase.
