A settlement has been reached in a lawsuit filed against Wells Fargo NA, which alleged that the bank violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). According to the lawsuit, Wells Fargo placed calls to cellular telephones using automated dialing technology or artificial or prerecorded voice technology for the purposes of collecting on consumer credit card debt. The lead plaintiff Lillian Franklin has claimed that she has received calls from the defendant that were intended to collect another person’s credit card account. And those calls were made when she did not even have a credit account with the bank and she never gave her consent to receive such calls. Although Wells Fargo denies any wrongdoing, they’ve agreed to pay nearly $14 Million to settle the lawsuit and avoid the uncertainty of continued litigation. Who’s eligible for Wells Fargo TCPA Settlement?
